In contrast to a regular mop, a steam mop doesn’t require any cleaning agents to get the job done. Instead of relying on detergent, or, say, bleach, it uses heat from steam to clean (and, most importantly, disinfect) the carpet. Now, thanks to heated market competition, you can get a premium-quality steam mop for a relatively affordable price. But how do you set so-so products from worthy picks?

Best Steam Mop for Carpets Review
1. Hoover PowerDash FH50700

View on Amazon
Most of us have pets running around the house, and they’re known to make a mess of carpets. On top of that, they spread allergens, which can be quite harmful, especially to kids. The good news is – with the Power Dash steam mop, you’ll be able to get rid of all those troubles, including dirt, dust, and more. It is very lightweight and compact but comes with a decent tank capacity.
What I like the most about this machine is that it’s available at a very affordable price. Compared to most rivaling products, it’s almost twice as cheap. And, it offers excellent value. The only significant downside is the noise level. When dealing with stubborn pains, Power Dash can get pretty loud. So, make sure not to turn it on in the morning or late at night. Otherwise, the neighbors won’t be too happy with you!

This steam mop isn’t particularly quiet. In fact, it is considerably loud, and that’s a con. On the bright side, PowerDash is lightweight, has more than enough water capacity, and comes at a reasonable price. If that’s exactly what you’re looking for, Hoover might have just the right product for you.
2. Hoover Smartwash FH52000 Steam Mop for Carpets
As you can see, this next steam mop is also made by Hoover, and it’s just as popular. When activated, it automatically turns from cleaning to drying. When you’re pushing forward, the machine is cleaning. But once you pull it back, it will start the drying process. This way, you won’t have to worry about constantly switching between the various modes. The nozzle and brushes are very easy to remove, by the way, which is a big pro.
The low-profile foot allows easy access under tables, chairs, and more. Sadly, the cleaner’s electric cord and hose are a bit too short and that might create some challenges for you. Other than that, I was quite impressed by Smartwash during my test. While it’s not the most feature-packed option on the market, it does provide an excellent balance of price and quality.

Easy to clean (and to remove the nozzle and the brushes), low-profile, and ergonomic – that’s the Smartwash steam mop in short for you. It does everything automatically: all you’ll have to do is push and pull. It would’ve been great if the hose and the cable were slightly longer, of course, but that’s the only significant con.
3. BISSELL ProHeat
Stubborn stains can be a pain, especially if it’s a mix of pet mess, drinks, soups, and kids having fun. But with Pro Heat by Bissell, you’ll be able to get your carpet back in shape in no time. Just switch to the Cleanshot mode and the steam mop will do the rest. It comes packed with twelve rows of premium-grade brushes that were specifically designed for hard-to-remove stains and spots.
Once you’re done, the carpet will dry in about 30 minutes. There’s one big downside, though: the engine tends to get hot from time to time. And, when that happens, the machine’s effectiveness decreases. So, make sure not to push it to the limit – that’s the best thing you can do with the Bissell steam mop.

If not for the overheating engine, I’d call the Pro Heat cleaner a bargain. It is highly effective against the worst types of stains, takes very little time to dry, and, overall, will be a good investment.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for a 21st century alternative to regular mops, you might be interested in steam mops. They are significantly more effective, reliable, and get the job done faster. In this post, I introduced you to three leading steam mops that will be worth every single penny you pay for them. With Hoover’s PowerdDash, you’ll get an all-around solid cleaning machine for an affordable price.
Smartwash (also by Hoover) is more expensive, but it’s also quite feature-packed and gets the job done faster. And what about Bissell, you might ask? This company has been around for a long time and knows exactly what the average buyer needs. Its steam mop is incredibly effective against stubborn stains and will be money well spent for the average family.
